Windows 10 “standard user” login

 

Allow login of Windows 10 “Standard user” (non administrator user) locally you will receive this message if you did not setup the Group Policy:

“You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer. Please see you network administrator for more details.”

Check Group Policy
Run gpedit.msc

In the Local Group Policy Editor:

1. Setup “Allow log on locally” was not setup to allow users or domain users. To setup allow users or domain users to logon the computer or domain, add the users or domain users to the “Allow log on locally”.

Expand Computer Configuration
-> Windows Settings
-> Security Settings
-> Local Policies
-> “User Rights Assignment
Ensure that “Allow log on locally” includes the username.

 

2. Check “Deny log on locally” should be empty or no users that you want to allow login locally.

Expand Computer Configuration
-> Windows Settings
-> Security Settings
-> Local Policies
-> “User Rights Assignment
Ensure that “Deny log on locally” does not have the user you want to allow.
